Atlas, Atlas Cross Sport, and ID.4 EV Score High in the Evaluation
The automaker has announced lately that the 2021 and 2022 Atlas, Atlas Cross Sport, and ID.4 EV have earned ‘good’ ratings in the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety side-impact test. 18 midsize SUVs were tested in this evaluation, and 10 of those earned the rating with three of the models of Volkswagen’s lineup of SUVs. The ID.4, however, was the only EV that was tested out of the 18 models. Therefore, if you are on the hunt for an EV, you now know which one to go for.
What Earned the SUVs a Good Score in the Evaluation?
According to the evaluation’s rubrics, vehicles must comply with a few regulations to earn a ‘good’ rating.
- The occupant compartment must be in good shape during the crash
- Measures gathered from the dummy models must not hint at a high risk of severe injuries
- Side airbags and seatbelts of the dummy models must ensure that there is no hard contact with the vehicles’ interior
All three models of the automakers scored well across these categories, thus earning the rating.
